You might expect something badged as Beretta to be made in Italy. Or maybe the USA. But the lightweight bolt-action Beretta T3x Lite rifle harks from SAKO in Finland where the lineup is called the Tikka T3x.

As of this writing, the T3x Lite range counts 18 models across 13 calibers all built around the T3x receiver. They are 22-250 REM, 223 REM, 243 WIN, 25-06 REM, 270 WIN, 270 WIN Short Mag, 300 WIN Mag, 300 WIN Short Mag, 30-06 SPRG, 308 WIN, 6.5 Creedmore, 7mm REM Mag and 7mm-08 REM.

Across the board, the T3x uses smooth rather than fluted blued barrels. And they’re all cold hammer forged and hand crowned muzzles.

The lightest of the bunch is the 308 WIN, which weighs 6.2 pounds. The rest range from 6.3 to 6.6 pounds. The 308 WIN and 6.5 Creedmore are shortest. Both use 20” 14x1mm threaded barrels and have overall lengths of 40.2”. The rest are either 22” or 24” non-threaded barreled guns that have total lengths of 42.6” or 44.5” respectively.

The T3x comes without any sights. However, the receiver is crested with integrated Tikka Optilock scope mounts and is tapped for Picatinny rails. It also has an oversize ejection port that permits better ejections and easier feeding of single rounds. A metallic bolt shroud protects the bolt body’s rear. Speaking of which, the bolt works quietly and effortlessly. The lug is made of steel, keeping it in shape even with extended use.

The T3x matte black polymer stock is replete with thoughtful touches. For instance, it has a noise mitigating foam insert. It uses an asymmetrical grip pattern that widens as it descends toward the stock. It’s designed to increase grip under various conditions. It’s modular, so one can use it with different pistol grips (not included) permitting different shooting positions, grip angles and more. There are swivel studs in front and back, exactly where you’d expect them.

A two-stage safety blocks the bolt handle and the trigger. Interestingly, the bolt has a 70 degree travel arc and a smooth squared-conical knob.

In back is a new thick recoil pad that does a great job absorbing felt recoil.

At bottom is a single-stack magazine that fits just ahead of the trigger assembly. Except the 4+1 capacity 223 REM, all are 3+1 capacity rifles. The trigger is clean-breaking single-stage type with 2.2 to 4.4 pounds of pull pressure. And the guns are set up for right-hand use.

All these features and all this versatility makes the Beretta T3x a compelling consideration.
