The Bond Arms Roughneck is a very high quality Derringer-type double-barrel pistol in a very compact package with three variants: .357 Magnum / .38 Special, .45 Long and 9 mm. The superposed stainless steel barrels are just 2.5” long and are housed within a matte bead-blasted stainless steel frame. Overall length is two inches longer at 4.5”. The gun is modern, stylish and affordable.

The grip is standard in length and flanked with black rubber grips topped by a five point star. Weight is just 19 ounces or about 1.2 pounds.

Bond Arms has engineered its guns to use the same basic frame, but also to use the same barrel mating. The benefit? Bond Arms makes many other heavy duty stainless steel barrels. This gun is compatible with all of them, and conversely any Bond Arms barrel is compatible with any Bond Arms pistol.

Of course, in each case, the two barrels are actually a single modular unit. Each unit has a figure 8 cross-section with flanks that are a series of horizontal and diagonal surfaces. Use an Allen wrench to remove the barrel hinge screw, put on a different barrel pair, replace the screw, and you’re done. The firing pins line up regardless of chamber or barrel length, which is a pretty nifty trick.

The various Bond Arms barrels are 2.5?, 3.0?, 3.5?, or 4.25? long. Between barrel lengths and calibers, there are nearly 40 different combinations one can purchase to use with the Bond Arms Roughneck.

The barrels are spring actuated for easier opening and closing for either cleaning or reloads.

The gun has an integrated front blade sight and a fixed rear one. More specifically, the front sight is integrated to the barrel module. In back is an upward thumb hammer.

The frame arches nearly 90-degrees over the partially-lightening ported trigger. The trigger guard has a nice vertical forward face. The guard then curves about 80 degrees to join the lower end of the aforementioned arch. And most interestingly, the trigger guard is removable.

The Roughneck has a simple crossbolt safety to prevent the hammer from hitting the firing pins. It can even be locked into “on safe” or “off safe” positions using an Allen wrench. For drop safety, the hammer can’t move without the trigger being pulled. It also has a rebounding hammer, meaning that after the gun is fired, the hammer half cocks to a position where it is not in contact with the firing pins.

Trigger pull is about 6 to 7 pounds. A clever feature is how the user can set the order in which the barrels fire.

The grip is matte black with diamond checkering. Bond Arms is based west of Fort Worth in of Granbury, Texas. The Bond Arms Roughneck is Made in USA.
