The 15+1 capacity striker-fired Glock G19 9x19 mm semi-automatic is a slightly smaller brother of Glock’s G17, and thus it has many similarities. A key commonality is its Spartan architecture. The design team kept the gun’s design pared down to just 40 parts including the ones in the magazine. The result has been a reliable, accurate and affordable semi-automatic pistol.

The G19 comes standard with a high-capacity 15-round magazine, but it also handles 17, 19, 24, 31 and 33-round magazines. In all cases, the mags are double-stack designs featuring counting holes.

Other key metrics? The 4.02” long cold hammer forged barrel houses in a slide that’s 6.85” long and 1.0” wide. Sight radius varies depending on type. Glock Night Sights (GNS) have a 5.94” radius; steel: 5.98” and polymer sights generously span 6.02”. Overall length is 7.36”.

Height, including the slightly protruding magazine, is 5.04”. Max width is 1.26” and that’s across the grips. The trigger distance from the back of the grip to the trigger face is 2.80”. Finally, weight without the magazine is 21.2 ounces while with a loaded magazine weight jumps to 30.2 ounces.

As this is a 5th generation gun (Gen5 in Glock parlance), it has an ambidextrous slide stop lever and a reversible magazine catch. Moreover, the black polymer frame has been designed for an optimal grip angle and uses hardened steel guides. It also has an integrated single-slot accessory rail under the recoil spring housing.

The G19 uses a Safe Action trigger system with 6.3 pounds of factory-set trigger pull. The Safe Action system utilizes a trigger safety that blocks the trigger from moving back until the safety is pulled. There is also a firing pin bar safety, drop safety and loaded chamber indicator.

The trigger guard has a vertical front face that curves forward a tad at the bottom. Within the guard perimeter is plenty of room for a gloved finger.

The pistol grip is straight, deliberately lacking any finger grooves, but has a three finger recesses, horizontal studded serrations and a gentle palm swell in back. The sides are textured.

The G19 has ambidextrous minimalist slide stop levers and squared magazine releases instead of the circular ones common to many other guns.

The Glock G19 is made by both Glock in Austria and Glock USA.
