The concealed-carry Kahr CM45 is a small, striker-fired, .45 ACP 5+1 semi-automatic from Kahr Arms of Greeley, Pennsylvania. Inside is a 3.24” long conventionally rifled barrel with a 1 to 16.38” right-hand twist.

Kahr positions the single-stack CM model subgroup as the smallest guns within their “value” series guns, but this belies the fact that the CM45 and its CM9 and CM40 siblings are good for their price.

The standard CM45 has a stainless-steel slide, white 3-dot sights and a matte black polymer frame. The CM series of guns are less expensive than, for instance, Kahr’s PM series of semi-automatics, because the CMs have fewer features.

The slide lacks front serrations. Kahr rolls the slide markings onto the slide instead of engraving them, and the black polymer frame lacks under-muzzle Picatinny rail. The CM series has only one magazine instead of the three that come with the pricier PM series, and it has conventional rifling instead of the PM’s match grade polygonal rifling. (In fact, the first letters of the PM and CM initials appear to come from Polygonal Rifling and Conventional Rifling, respectively.) The slide stop is injection molded instead of machined. Finally, the polymer front sight tacks in via two pins instead of being dovetailed.

Those are the differences. Now let’s cover the CM45’s assets. The CM45 is small, thin and, thanks to its polymer frame, very light. It’s powerful yet still retains a low-felt recoil, and it’s comfortable. An attractive touch are the seven chiseled rear serrations per side that align with the grip below. It has a Browning-style recoil lug and a passive striker block.

The matte finished 416 stainless-steel slide is 1.01” wide. Height is 4.49” while overall length is 5.79". The CM45 is very light, weighing only 15.8 ounces unloaded while the empty magazine adds another 2.0 ounces.

We already covered the front sights but the drift adjustable combat rear sight is dovetailed into the slide.

The slide stop lever is molded. Both it and the circular magazine release are on the gun’s left hand side. The standout design element is the nearly figure-8 trigger housing around the forward tilted crescent trigger. The housing has two indents above the trigger into the frame and a slight indent in the bottom of the trigger guard.

The gun’s safety comes from its double-action only (DAO) trigger and its firing pin safety. There’s no thumb safety.

The flattened pyramid texturing on the frontstrap and backstrap are molded directly onto the grip. The two grip sides are textured with the K (for Kahr) logo in the middle and are also molded directly onto the grip.

The Kahr CM45 comes standard with a solitary flush-fitting stainless steel 5-round magazine. The semi-auto is built in Worchester, Massachusetts and thus Made in USA.
