The 10+1 Savage Model 64 .22 LR straight-blowback semi-automatic rifle lineup has 10 configurations. These include scope or no scope, wooden or synthetic stock construction, stainless steel or carbon steel barrels, sporter or varmint stock profiles, barrel lengths ranging from 16.5” to 21” and right-hand or left-hand versions. The lineup offers something for just about anyone seeking an affordable .22 LR semi-automatic rifle.

These guns have a variety of sights. The base 64 F has open sights. The 64 FXP has a 4x15mm scope while the 64 FVXP has a significantly better 3-9x40mm Bushnell scope. The 64 Takedown model is easily disassembled into two halves. It has no sights, but its receiver is drilled and tapped so you can put what you want on the thing. The 64 Camo has open sights and its stock is swathed in a woodsy Synthetic Next G1 camouflage.

Each model comes standard with 10-round detachable box magazines, and the Savage .22 LR barrels have a 1:16” RH twist.

Several models have lightweight black synthetic stocks while others such as the 64 G have a hardwood stock. Another combination is the 64 FSS that pairs a stainless steel barrel with the black synthetic stock.

Regardless of configuration, Model 64s have Savage’s two-stage AccuTrigger. Savage uses AccuTrigger on its guns for good reason. Among other things, it is user-adjustable across a pull pressure range of 2.5 to 6.0 pounds and prevents the rifle from discharging when jarred or dropped. Moreover, there’s a two-position sear-blocking safety lever that prevents the firing pin from striking the primer located on the upper right receiver.

Another outlying model is the Model 64 TR-SR. It looks like an expensive tactical rifle. But it is actually impressively affordable. The stock is actually made of black hardwood. The carbon steel fluted heavy barrel is 16.5” long, overall length is 36.75” and weight is 6.75 pounds and it has three swivel studs. The TR-SR has a 1 Piece, Ø MOA Picatinny rail on top and the barrel has a 1/2”-28 TPI muzzle thread.

Savage Arms is based in Springfield, Massachusetts.
